Michael Haussman is a director, writer and artist, whose internationally acclaimed work has won numerous awards and is featured in books and trade journals around the world (Recent Publication click here).
Michael has directed music videos for such artists as Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Usher, Shakira, Chris Cornell, Jennifer Lopez, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King. His videos have won several MTV and VH1 awards, including twice MTV 'Music Video Of The Year' and the prestigious Museum Of Modern Art award. He has directed commercial campaigns for Levi's, Diesel, Absolut, Bulgari, BMW, Yves Saint Laurent, Guinness, Adidas, Ray-Ban, Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Replay, Nespresso and more.
As an artist his most recent project, 'GRAVITY', the study of gravity's effect on the human emotion, told through five high definition video sequences filmed at 2,000 frames per second, was chosen by L.A. WEEKLY as the top ten pieces of art this year in ART PLATFORM L.A. (Click here to read the article). The entire GRAVITY show opened January 17, 2013 at the PACIFIC DESIGN CENTER and has shared reviews from Huffington Post, Moholy Ground, Boing Boing, and others (Click here to read the Moholy article). The promo for GRAVITY is currently approaching one million hits on You tube. As a painter his solo art show 'Naturales', featuring large-scale matador and bull paintings, ink on paper, premiered at the Desoto gallery in Los Angeles, the New York Scope Art Fair, and Group Showing in Los Angeles.
Michael just finished THE UNSINKABLE HENRY MORGAN, a documentary for the SUNDANCE CHANNEL on the discovery of Captain Morgan's famous fleet of pirate ships, which sunk off the coast of Panama in 1671. The documentary premiered at the SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in January 2013.The L.A. WEEKLY, reviewed the film, (Click here to read the article). Michael's past films include the experimental film, RHINOCEROS HUNTING IN BUDAPEST, starring Nick Cave, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He also completed a feature-length documentary about two matadors and the world of bullfighting, entitled THE LAST SERIOUS THING.
Michael Haussman is currently attached to direct MAN OF POWER, the story of Nikola Tesla, which he co-wrote and is being produced by Johnny Depp's production company, Infinitum Nihl.
He has also just finished writing GOOD GUYS, which Michael will direct in Rome, Italy, centering on two Americans meeting in a hotel bar. After one is found dead, the other takes over his identity, becoming everything in life he fought against.
Michael's photographic interests in diverse cultures is displayed in WHERE THEY PLAY, a book documenting football (soccer) fields from around the world, revealing each culture's interpretation of a field within their environment—from Guatemala, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, to Morocco, Italy, England, etc.
